Rest in peace Leelah, no trans individual should have to live in fear especially of your own family, the people that are meant to nurture and love you. You were perfect the way you were, as a beautiful girl.
Her parents have thrown away their own child because of their selfish, backwards and hypocritical ways. And now it is too late to hold her, to apologise and tell her that you love her.
You will have to live with this betrayal for the rest of your lives. I have no sympathy for you. I hope the grief never subsides and I hope the guilt plagues you until you die, because no amount of pain you experience will ever equate to the pain that Leelah had to suffer from the hands of her own family.
She ended her pain, the pain that you forced upon her. May you forever regret the decisions you made that lead to Leelah’s death. May you never know peace until you take responsibility for your abusive actions.
She committed suicide because of you. You killed her with your relentless abuse and rejection. I hope one day you realise that.
